Wind on Hot Sunny Days

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim Mc @ 9:08 pm

I’ve found that on the hot sunny days with little wind that it often picks up around 3:00 to 4:00 because of the warming of the land. That happened this Saturday right on schedule. This can be pretty frustrating when you want to go sailing in the nice weather but no wind.

It also can drop off quickly when the sun starts to go down, so bring a paddle just in case.

At the clinics we will discuss: our racing series calendar (to include Committee Boat duty), the Racing Rules of Sailing and basic racing strategy/techniques.
Following the discussion at the dock we will sail Capris. There will be a series of sailing drills and practice starts to get us back in the swing of small boat sailing after a long winter.

Renton River Days Parade

Filed under: Social Events — Steve Welch @ 5:53 pm

Hey Everyone! Get on your walking shoes…it’s time for the Renton River Days parade…
Mark your calendars…This is a great opportunity to promote the Renton Sailing Club!

When: Saturday, July 24th – Lee will bring the boat over around 8 am.
Show up early to help decorate the boat or if you just want to join in and walk, be there by 9:30 am (parade starts at 10 am; allow time to find parking)

Meeting location- to be determined, but typically in past has been either at the McClendon’s Hardware parking lot or Safeway parking lot on the east side of….Rainier Ave and S. 3rd and 4th place.

Parade route: down 3rd Street onto Houser, ending at Cedar River Park.

If you cannot find us, ask a parade representative for: “North Renton Neighborhood Association”, which will be providing a vehicle to pull the El Toro.

Following the parade, for those interested, we can find a lunch stop at either a nearby downtown Renton Restaurant (perhaps the Whistle Stop or the Irish Pub; or if too busy, consider a place at the Landing)

Wear your club T-shirts….. or if you don’t have one, wear a solid navy blue or solid red shirt…
Don’t miss out!
